The Setting: I’ve been playing Dungeons and Dragons for almost 40 years. I ran my first games in high school and found a DM style that I still use today. There were some great games in those early days, but the group I had the honor of playing with in the early 90’s changed my life.

The characters were so deep and interwoven and the storytelling so complex and layered. The DMs I played with enhanced my game and I still hold those stories dear. So much so, every game I have DMed since has been set in the same universe and built on that reality.

Flash forward to 2016 when my wife and son approached me about running a game. They didn’t care what edition or setting, they just wanted to play. So I dusted off the 2nd edition books I still had and we created a family game night that still runs today.

Project Release: Bleackwood is a comic book version of that story. Lately, I’ve become fond of coloring my comic book work with watercolors instead of digitally. This increases production time, but I am liking the look of it so far.

My intention is to have an issue published in time to debut it at Archon 43 this October. If production goes more quickly, it could be ready for Flaming River Con. Time will tell.
